Red Foot Crow combines the formidable vocal talents of Ashley Height and Polly Meyrick, gently gritty electric and slide guitars, soaring clarinet and a cooking rhythm section provided by Robin Tyndale-Biscoe and Matt Tweed on hybrid Afro-Brazilian drum kit and electric upright bass.
With unique grooves and memorable songs, Red Foot Crow are in the upper bracket of pioneering beat music for magpies and other Jackdaw-like birds.
The band (named by Martha Tilston after she read it in an RSPB book describing the Cornish Chough, Cornwall being the place where they all met) creates an eclectic fusion of sounds: lush vocals, growling bass, polyrhythmic Brazilian/Africanised drum kit, and tasty and very catchy songs.
The Sound? Think of a Ben Harper encounter with the Cinematic Orchestra on a dusty road to Timbuktu and that’ll point you in the right direction…
