Bristol 6-piece Caraway fuses jazz and electronica with global folk influences. Sometimes stripped bare, sometimes hard-hitting, Caraway’s songs tell stories of today’s world – from conversations with strangers to body memory, freight ships and NHS waiting lists. With a soul-stirring and cinematic sound, they blend poetic lyrics with rich soundscapes, foley samples, intricate rhythms, double bass grooves and sultry horn lines.
Led by Polly Meyrick on vocals, saxophone and clarinet, Caraway’s line-up blends electronic and organic sounds, resonating with artists like Bonobo, Submotion Orchestra, This Is The Kit, Ezra Collective and Portico Quartet. Caraway is the exciting new brainchild of seasoned musicians from the UK scene. Individually, they have played on many festival stages (including Glastonbury opening ceremony, Shambala and Bestival, as well as seasons with festival venue People’s Front Room). Members of Caraway have also toured both nationally and internationally, created music for theatre shows, featured on BBC Introducing, and mentored for the BBC Young Composer scheme in a composition for the BBC Symphony Orchestra. |
